Halle Berry Speaks Out on Menopause Stigma: ‘There’s Nothing Wrong with Me’

On February 18, the Oscar-winning actress appeared on the Today Show to discuss her new company, Respin Health, which aims to create a supportive community for women navigating menopause.

Overcoming Resistance to the Conversation

“Sadly, people said to me, ‘Are you sure you want to talk about that? Do you want to align yourself with menopause? Do you worry how that will affect your career?’ And I said, ‘No.’”

She explained that these reactions only strengthened her resolve.

“That’s exactly why I should be talking about it—because there’s nothing wrong with me being in my mid-life. There’s nothing wrong with being 58, and you have to stop telling me there’s something wrong with me. And I’m going to prove to you that it’s not.”

Berry stressed the importance of women working together to destigmatize menopause and reshape societal attitudes toward this natural phase of life.

Empowering Women Through Education

The Catwoman star encouraged women experiencing menopause to prioritize their health and become informed about the changes their bodies are undergoing.

She rejected the notion that menopause is a time for women to slow down.

“It’s not time to sit down. It’s time to reinvent. It’s time to have a beautiful, glorious second act.

Changing the Narrative Around Menopause

“Everything about our body changes, right? We just need education to navigate that time.”

Her advocacy for menopause awareness isn’t new. In August 2024, Berry marked her 58th birthday by focusing on women’s health and pushing for policy changes. She actively supported a new bill aimed at raising public awareness about menopause and providing medical professionals with better training and resources.

“I’m going to be in West Virginia with Senator [Shelley] Capito doing some advocacy work for my menopause bill,” she told Extra TV, referencing the Advancing Menopause Care and Mid-Life Women’s Health Act, which was introduced in May 2024.

Through her activism, new health brand, and public discussions, Berry is determined to empower women and change the way society views menopause—proving that mid-life is just the beginning of a new and exciting chapter.
